I'm a big fan of rings like those made by Antal but there are times when even they are overkill and something simpler/cheaper is called for...
The
SMC ring is less than a third the cost (around $4.50) of the Antal rings and for use in a cascade, some barber haulers, or some lazy jacks, it makes all kinds of sense...
So does the
Omega Pacific ring. I can think of any number of cascade oriented uses (a couple of vangs come to mind as it is a project on the list) and a few of either sort of ring in your bosun bag could be a very handy thing to have for not a lot of outlay.
