Sun Tzu offers up a little boatbuilding advice...

A day to remember, dire developments in the prisons for profit industry, Crooks & Liars with some opinion/links, and who the hell does something like this...

“Victorious warriors win first and then go to war, while defeated warriors go to war first and then seek to win” ― Sun Tzu, The Art of War
An apt quote for those considering a boat building or a rehabbing project... I'm pretty sure Sun Tzu would have been a kick ass boatbuilder!

Right now I'm considering buying a project boat. It's a cool boat but has a lot wrong with it so will need some serious work, time, and a hopefully small infusion of cash to make it right...

So the last few days I've been rebuilding it in my head. Working through possible problems, solutions, and all manner of cunning plans to make it a better boat while saving time, labor and money in the process.

This is pretty much what I did for Loose Moose 2 which only took six months of labor to get it in the water, as well as Loose Moose, which took about half that. Fact of the matter is, I spent more time thinking about building those boats than I did in building them.

Anyway, trying to build or do a major refit on a boat in an ad hoc manner is a recipe for disaster. You really do need a plan. Of course, I should add that an inflexible plan is often even worse than no plan at all and all plans (even the good ones) fall apart at some time...
“In the midst of chaos, there is also opportunity”― Sun Tzu, The Art of War
Kinda makes sense does he not?

So it goes...
