That guy wanting to be liar-in-chief seems to be off to a good start, the future is right there waiting for us, and how the real working world and profits collide...
"Money does not represent such a value as men have placed upon it."You might say that old Nikola Tesla was a pretty bright dude especially where money is concerned. Of course, most folk don't even know what money actually is but that is a subject that belongs on some other blog...

I mention this because a regular reader of Boat Bits pointed out recently that that the words "affordable" and "boat" seldom, if ever, can be used in the same sentence... Do I hear an amen?
Personally, I find the use of the word "affordable" somewhat repugnant because it is a word that without some sort of anchor or qualifier means nothing. So, if I were to say XXX boat was affordable at $175,000 in a boat review what does that mean? If the review was in "Cruising World" you could take it to mean that it's affordable to anyone who subscribes to the magazine... Ya think?
Now, as it happens, I subscribe to "Cruising World" and I can't afford a 35-foot boat for $175,000 so maybe "Cruising World" would be better off to say the boat is affordable to folks who are independently wealthy, make over $750,000 a year, just won the lottery, or, well you get the idea...
Speaking of money and value, we picked up the needful bits for the new dinghy, a stretched tortoise. Two sheets of exterior ply ($57) and enough cypress ($16) to frame it out. We already have the needful epoxy ($56), glass fiber biax tape ($10) and glass cloth ($15) so we are good to go.
The only other expense involved will be a can of paint ($8) and a couple of oarlocks of the cheap sort... So, unless I do something seriously stupid, which is not an uncommon event, the total should remain less than $175 which, by my accounting, is actually affordable to more than a few...
