Small affordable computer controlled milling machines and 3D printers are going to revolutionize small expensive boat parts and spares. It's only a matter of time before you'll be able to get that needful widget from the guy on the boat over there with the "maker" burgee or a nearby hacker-space, rather than paying silly high prices for a couple of dollars worth of materials.
