It used to be in the Caribbean that if you wanted bananas you'd wind up with huge stalk for a little money and when they became ripe they ALL became ripe...
Sadly those days are gone and if you want cheap bananas in the Caribbean you are looking in the wrong place ( and I won't even start to rant about the prices of Avocados!) but even so prices on bananas being what they are I still have a knee jerk reaction to an recipes that make use of of the noble fruit.
One of our favorite foodie blogs is "The Zen Kitchen" and yesterdays post of a real banana bread ( as opposed to the spice cake sort of thing everybody calls Banana bread...
