I keep hearing about the Orca situation on the other side of the Atlantic but not so much about what's causing the problem or possible fixes. Well, at least until today.
Bateaux magazine has an interesting article on using Pingers developed for commercial fishermen to keep whales and dolphins out of nets to reduce bycatch.

While I have no idea whether they'll keep Orcas from frelling up your rudder but, with a street price of around $125, they might be well worth looking into. Especially if you have plans to be sailing in the vicinity of Atlantic France, Spain, and Portugal in the foreseeable future.
